Whichever way you decide to book we will always send an email confirmation setting out the full price and pick up details.

Far North Rental prices are in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and include Goods and Services Tax (GST) at 15%, unlimited kilometres and standard third party and public liability cover. Any airport or delivery fees are clearly shown at the time of booking.

Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel your booking. We are also very understanding of things like cancelled flights and travel disruptions, however we do reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee for same day cancellations.

No deposit required. The full amount is payable on the day of travel.

Yes you can pay for the actual hire with a debit card. We also require a valid credit card to be held as security for the hire. Otherwise we may request a bond on a debit card. A 2.9% Credit Card Service Fee applies to all payments by Credit/Debit cards

We do reserve the right to charge a bond on certain types of vehicle.  However, normally your credit card is used as security. If you do not have a credit card but want to use a debit card then we may request a bond.

Please note that all reservation confirmations contain full vehicle pick up information.

Yes, subject to staff availability we will deliver a vehicle to addresses in Kerikeri and Paihia. However, there is a fee for this service which will be discussed at the time of booking.

All Far North Rental vehicles are covered 24/7 by the AA Roadside Assist programme.  If you have any mechanical problems with the car during your hire please call the AA on 0800 734 543 and quote the vehicle registration number (this number is also prominently displayed in the car).

You can hire a car with us if you are at least 23 years of age and you hold a current, full New Zealand or international drivers licence. Restricted licences cannot be accepted. Drivers visiting from overseas can drive on their overseas licence for one year from entering New Zealand providing that it is a valid, full licence in English. If the licence is not in English, they must have an official translation or an International Drivers Licence. The driver’s original, valid license must also be carried along with either the translation or the International Driving Permit at all times. There is no maximum age to hire with us. As long as your licence is valid!

We are required by law to sight your licence at the time of hire.

Yes, we are open 365 days a year and there are no additional charges on a public holiday.

Yes, as many as you require.  This is most easily done at the time of hire but additional drivers can be added at any time.

If you are travelling during the peak travel season in Northland (Dec-Apr), we would recommend booking as far in advance as possible to ensure the best rates and choice of vehicles.

You can however book right up until the day of departure either online or by calling our toll free number.

You can drive our rental car on any North Island roads except:

  • 90 Mile Beach (Northland)
  • Any off road driving including any beaches.

These roads are not part of normal touring routes and you will not be insured if you drive on these roads, or drive on any beaches or take part in any off road driving at any time during your hire.

Refunds are not given for early returns. Your travel insurance provider may cover you if you return your rental car early due to illness or unforeseen changes in your travel plans, so you would need to claim the amount for the unused days from them.

All of our cars and people movers are automatic.
